I had always thought that the Great Pyramid was some distance out into the desert.

Turns out it's like 200m from urban Giza, they just always take pictures from the city side so it looks like it's all on its own.

Having been here a number of times (the new embassy opened in 2018), it’s a very nice place. I think the old location was better — hard to beat the heart of central London — but the citizen services room was cramped and they were clearly struggling for space.

A small joy of mine when taking train journeys is getting to use the National Rail iPhone app, which despite being updated every few months still uses iPhone 4-era UI, complete with black bars on the top and bottom because I’m on one of those newfangled tall iPhones. It still works!

We haven't had much rain recently here in London, which I thought was unseasonable for February.

But then I wasn't sure if it was actually out of the ordinary, so I downloaded historical precipitation records for our local weather station (Hampstead) and averaged them out for each day of the year.

Turns out that there's no rainy season in London. It's slightly wetter in autumn and slightly drier in winter/spring, but the effect is tiny.
